I am finally finished with a shawl pattern that is two years in the making! I am publishing my Lace Progression Shawl as a Knit-a-long on Ravelry, the first chapter will be released February 13.

There is a Ravelry group where you can find help if you need it. Materials needed are specified on the pattern page, so you can get what you need now! Introduction and the first part of the shawl will be released together. The whole pattern will be available for sale after the KAL is finished.

I have now published My latest pattern, Colour Gradient Hat, on Ravelry. I am almost done with the pattern for matching fingerless mitts, I will post them separately and as a bundle.

These knits are made in stranded knitting, meaning there are two colours knit at once to make patterns. The technique can take some time to get the hang of, but it is well worth the effort! I have been using the two-handed method for larger projects, but with the mitts I had some problems. The first change I made was to skip the magic loop (using a long circular needle), and use double pointed needles instead. This made it much easier to get an even tension. I  tended to get caught with the yarn on and around the needles however, so I decided to try holding both yarns in my left hand. This was less messy, but didn't work great until I started wearing a ring on my finger! I looped one yarn over the ring, and this helped to separate the yarns and made it easier to pick the right colour. It is important to consistently pick one colour below the other, in this picture I show how I pick the purple yarn from below the green. I keep the purple yarn on my left side as well, so no tangling of yarns!

MyBabyLove Beanie

This hat is knit in moss stitch so it's very elastic. The heart is sewn on with duplicate stitch.

sizes: xs(1-2 kg), s(2-3kg)

Materials: One skein fingering weight yarn,  Superwash Merino, or a cotton or cotton blend
Yarn in a complementary color, about 2 m. Fingering or sport weight.
Double Pointed needles or a circular needle (for magic loop) 2.5 mm, 3mm

Moss stitch:
row 1, 3, 5 etc: *p1, k1*
row 2, 4, 6 etc: *k1, p1*

Shorthand:
Inc1: knit into the front and back loops of one stitch
p2tog: purl two stitches at once
k2tog: knit two stitches at once
p3tog: purl three stitches at once

Cast on 60, 66 st with 2.5mm needles and divide them on dpns or a circular needle Place a marker and join in the round.
Knit 1 x 1 rib for 3 cm
Switch to 3 mm needles. Next row, knit all stitches and increase 7 st evenly, inc1 about every 9, 10 stitches (67, 73 st)
Knit moss for four rows. Place a marker after the 26th, 30th st
next row (row 5) knit moss to marker, then follow the diagram for the heart, then knit moss til end of row.
Repeat for row 6- row 13 until the diagram is done.
knit moss until the hat is 10, 12 cm from cast-on edge.

Embroider the heart using duplicate stitch or cross stitch. Fasten all threds.

I have a brand new little nephew to knit for and I thought I would share a pattern for a hat that has been a hit at the hospital. So far the pattern is in Swedish, and only two small sizes. I will add the english and more sizes soon, and then publish a pdf version when I'm all done!
